DAY 2 – MT KILIMANJARO TREK

After breakfast drive to the Kilimanjaro National Park Gate (about 1 hour), register and commence the climb. We will walk through the rainforest to the Mandara encampment. A side trip to Maundi Crater is a good way to see the surroundings including Northern Tanzania and Kenya. In the rainforest, you can expect to see the towering Eucalyptus trees, bird life, and Colobus monkeys.

DAY 3 – MT KILIMANJARO TREK

Leaving the green glades of the rain-forest, we will follow an ascending path on the open moorlands to the Horombo encampment. Views of Mawenzi and the summit of Kibo are stunning from this viewpoint. Look for giant lobelias and groundsels. At Horombo (3700m) most people start to feel the effects of the altitude.

DAY 4 – MT KILIMANJARO TREK

As we continue the ascend, we now pass the last watering point, walking onto the saddle of Mt Kilimanjaro between the peaks of Kibo and Mawenzi. The vegetation of the upper heathland begins to disappear into “moonscape” landscapes. We will eat dinner early, try to get some rest and prepare for summit climb.

DAY 5 – MT KILIMANJARO TREK

Very early in the morning (midnight to 2 am), we will commence the climb to the summit on steep and heavy scree or snow up to Gilman’s point located on the crater rim. Continuing, we will ascend to Uhuru Peak, which is the highest point in Africa. There are unbelievable views at every turn. Have your picture taken at the summit to show your friends and family. From here we descend, stopping for lunch and a rest at Kibo before continuing on to the Horombo encampment.

• Distance: 6km/4mi up / 15km/9mi down

• Hiking Time: 6-8 hours up / 15km/9mi down

DAY 6 – MT KILIMANJARO TREK

After breakfast, a steady descent takes us down through moorland to the Mandara Hut. Continue descending through lush forest path to the National Park gate at Marangu. At lower elevations, it can be wet and muddy. Gaiters and trekking poles will help. Shorts and t-shirts will probably be plenty to wear (keep rain gear and warmer clothing handy).

A vehicle will be waiting for you at Marangu gate and drive you back to cL in Moshi (about 1 hour).

DAY 7 – TARANGIRE PARK

Early Breakfast then departure from Moshi to TARANGIRE PARK, were you can expect to experience a truly exceptional park with its river and numerous animals. It is defined by stunning flora: baobabs, sausage trees, and acacia tortelis. The safari in the park will continue until nightfall.

DAY 8 – NGORONGORO

Breakfast at the lodge, then descending in the world famous Ngorongoro crater 600 meters in depth and 20km in diameter.

Its a real Noah’s Ark experience where the majority of the African wildlife species can be seen. From the big herds of herbivorous to their predators (lions, cheetahs, hyenas, etc), and big mammoths (elephants, rhinoceroses, hippos).

Included: Picnic lunch in the crater then drive back to Moshi for dinner and overnight. 

DAY 9 – DAR ES SALAAM

After breakfast, we will drive to Dar es Salaam by private car, lunch on the way, ensuring that we arrive in time for dinner and overnight stay.

DAY 10 – DAR ES SALAAM

Full day city tour, enjoying the sites of all the tourist hotspots. Including Kariakoo market, Mwenge woodcavers Market, Fish Market and National Museum.

DAY 11 – ZANZIBAR

After an early breakfast, we will transfer to the port where you will board the boat to Zanzibar. Once arriving on the tranquil sores of Tanzania’s paradise islands we will transfer to the hotel. After a gentle rest, settling in to the accommodation, you will start a tour which takes you through fabled Stone Town, where history appears to stand still.

You will visit the House of Wonders, Palace Museum (People’s Palace) and the Arab Fort amongst many. All offer a fascinating look at the essence of Zanzibar. You will see Zanzibar’s bustling market, ornately carved and studded doors, two cathedrals and countless mosques!

DAY 12 – ZANZIBAR

After Breakfast, we will drive and stop at the Zanzibar Beach Bar, Pylos, Pylos-Nestor, Messenia Region, Peloponnese all in preparation for snorkeling the clear waters of Zanzibar. Unlike many other popular snorkeling destinations around the world it is still possible to find places that have never been explored along the coast. With many varieties of coral providing a home to thousands of colourful and exotic creatures, including blue ribbon tail rays, fire fish and for the “Finding Nemo” fans, clown fish.

DAY 13 – ZANZIBAR…

Depending on your flight schedule and departure point you will be transferred to the Zanzibar Airport to take a flight back home. If you are flying out of Dar es Salaam or Nairobi, we will arrange a connection flight for you to catch your flight back home.
